Hello everyone! A lot has happened! We are planning to finish up this project in the next month or so! Being apart of this group has been such a wonderful experience for me. With everyone's help, we got to meet our goals of raising money and awareness for domestic violence victims. We plan to meet up over the weekend to drop off the checks we received to the Oasis Shelter. However, we have faced many conflicts with scheduling a time for all of us to be available. Since we all have different activities and sports, it makes it hard to find a day where we are all free. But, we plan to go within the next few weeks to drop off the checks. Then, we will plan to get the items the shelter needs the following week. I'm so shocked that are project is already finishing up, I'm so excited on how far we came.

Hello everyone! My group has done a lot in the past 2 weeks. A few weekends ago, I went to collect the donation cans that we set up and the check from the Roma’s Night. We raised $39.97 from the Roma’s Night and over $90 from the other cans alone! We appreciate all the help that everyone has put in to our project! On Monday, we called the Oasis Shelter to check up on them and tell them the progress we made on our project. During the phone call, they told us some of the key resources that they need. Some included pillows and pillowcases. Next weekend, my group plans to make a trip to Sam’s Club to purchase items for the Oasis Shelter. Then, we plan to drop off the items and checks to them. Also, we still have some donation cans up and running at Roma’s and El Mezcal. I’m so proud of how far my group has come in the past few months! We’re excited to finally complete our project, but we hope to keep getting in touch with the Shelter throughout the year.
Hello! This week hasn't been as productive as we would like it to be. We did email the person who runs the weekly announcements at our school, but we never got a response. Instead, we are going to email the principal to announce our project to the school so we can raise more awareness for our project. Our fundraiser night is on February 7th at Roma's Pizza. When you mention "Helping Oasis", some of the proceeds will go towards our project. With all of the money we will get, we plan to go shopping for the products that the Oasis Shelter needs. Also, we plan to get ahold of the Oasis Shelter to mention how we are doing with this project. We are going to collect the donation bins from various local businesses sometime next week before our fundraiser night. Furthermore, we plan to use this money in the next few weeks to go shopping. Personally, I think that since our project is getting further along, we’re working extra hard to get everything accomplished. I can’t wait to update for next week! Have a good rest of the week and make sure to come to our fundraiser night on February 7th! We would appreciate your help in reaching our goal! Make sure you look for this flyer!
Hello, we are very excited to share some news with you with our project! We plan to open up an Instagram page, which we'll give you the information once we start the account. I researched some hashtags people use for domestic violence. I realized on social media these days, they use #metoo to show that they have suffered through domestic abuse. We are planning to use more hashtags once we find them. For advertising, we emailed our teacher to see if we can include our project in the video announcements at our school. Also, we plan to announce it to the school in the next couple of weeks. Personally, I'm very excited for the rest of our project. I'm so happy we've came so far. We wanted to mention again that our fundraiser night is on February 7 at Roma's but you have to mention the Oasis Shelter or our 20 Time project. Some of the proceeds from this night will be donated to our project so we are able to buy key items that the Shelter needs. I hope to see you there!
Hello, I hope you all had good holidays! This post is about my group's and myself's resolution for our 20 Time Project. Personally, I want to spread the word more for this project. It seems like sometimes I procrastinate when it comes to advertising about my project. I plan to meet up with my 20 Time group more as a result of this. Some ways can include; meeting up after school, staying after, or talking more off school grounds. As a group, I think we're doing pretty good with our project about not giving up on it. At the beginning, we put our project off to the side due to the fact that we couldn't get ahold of the shelter. However, ever since then, we've worked on all of our goals. Secondly, I would like to work on organizing events more to raise more awareness/money/donations for our project. I hope to update you on more upcoming events for our project and any other new information!
Hello! This is week 5 of my blog posts. I can't believe it's been this long! Anyways, I wanted to say that last week my group met up and we made another plan to get donations for the Oasis Shelter. All of us have been working really hard to raise awareness for this shelter. We also decided that we should set up a table to get donations/money at either the local Christmas Village or Christmas Walk during the weekend. Since we all know those both get a lot of attention, we wanted to give the City Hall a call. As a group, we want to get as much goods/money as possible to help this shelter with their needs. Since we called the shelter, we brainstormed many ideas for how to raise money/awareness. So far, I posted on Facebook a link to our account and got many views on the page. Hopefully, people can help out with our project. Also this week, we called the City Hall. They gave us another number to contact, which we did. At first, the person said no. Once we gave more information about our project. The person said she would contact the local Committee. Hopefully, we get an answer this week. However, next week, we plan to go to either the walk or village to set up a table. Either all of us or just two will be there and receive donations for this project.
Hello, I have some good information to share with you guys. Last week, we decided to contact the Oasis Women's Shelter again, and we got them to answer. They told us that they're in need of personal items for the women. We plan on raising money to buy the Oasis Women's Shelter necessities since not many people donate to unknown causes like this. However, our plan is to get donation cans to put at local businesses around our area for people to put money in. We talked about getting them from either the local dollar store or our houses. I know to most people their loose change isn't a lot, but for our group it is. As a group, we want to raise money for this cause. We are really excited to finally move on with our project after not doing much the last couple of weeks. To me, I'm anxious to get to move on to a whole other part of our 20 Time Project. Hopefully by the end of November, we want to get all of the 10 donation cans put out at the different locations. However, we talked about getting more cans for donations. Meanwhile, we talked about what would happen if we didn't get many donations or the business wouldn't allow it. Our back up plan is to stick with businesses that we know. Also, we want to stick with businesses that our local since we aren't able to drive ourselves to the location. I'm super excited for the rest of the year, and I'm happy for where this project takes us. Here's a picture of me calling the Oasis Women's Shelter.
Welcome to my 3rd blog post! The past few weeks have been the same for us, due to the lack of calling we've been doing. However, we plan to call the Oasis Women's Shelter more frequently during the day. As a group, we decided that the time we've been calling, usually around 9:00, that we should call later during the day. Also, we think that having an adult, like Mr. Carlson, call the shelter. Meanwhile, our group does have a back up plan just in case. which is to help the Good Samaritan House. Personally, I'm very nervous and anxious about our project. We've been trying to contact the shelter for a few weeks, and we haven't got a call back. For now, I'm anxious for where this project takes us. It seems like the end of the year is so far away. However, I feel our group can do this, even though we don't have it all figured out at the moment. Our main goal is to help women and children who are in need. We feel that we all want to help those who are in need.
Welcome to week 2 of my blog! I wanted to say that we haven’t gotten a call back yet, but we are anticipating to get a call soon. We also decided to work on a back up plan, just in case our first plan doesn’t work out. In our group, we decided to just wait for them to call back. The reason for that is because we are really interested in helping others. Especially women and kids who have to suffer through hard times. The reason why I feel that way is because I know of people who have went through tough times, and were able to get through it with help from others. With this project, I’m not expecting to be always successful, but my main goal is to help others who are in need. Also as a group, we decided that was our main goal for us. If you’re wondering, our back up plan is to help with another women’s shelter or domestic center. I feel very anxious and excited to hear back from the Women’s Shelter.
Hello, my name is Ryanne. I am a student at CMHS. This year my group is working together for our Honor's English Class on a Twenty-Time Project. The group consists of; Emma, Emily, and me. We decided to be in a group together because we're all close friends from school. When we were first given this project, we instantly brainstormed of helping others in need. As a group, we struggled finding something that helps others, but doesn't get a lot of attention. We kept throwing out ideas; such as volunteering for the homeless shelters, doing a food drive, or volunteering for a senior citizen home. However, we all agreed that all of these get a lot of attention from people. We knew that there was other organizations that don't get a lot of help from others. One day, we found something we all agreed on. We came upon the Oasis Women's Shelter. This shelter helps domestic violence victims, mainly women and children. Instantly, we were drawn to this idea of helping them. Sometime, we plan to contact l them and talk to them about who we are, and if there is any way we could help them. As a whole, our main idea is to help others in need. Personally, I'm excited for this project. I can't wait for the rest of the year to see where this project takes us. Also, I'm happy to help others in need and get involved with my community.
