Welcome back! We are currently wrapping up our project. Taking part in Helping Oasis this year has been such a memorable experience, and I am so happy with the outcome. Our 20time project has set me on the right path for any community service projects that I will partake in in the future. I also know that the presentation, one month from today, will definitely open my eyes to what its like to present in front of a larger crowd. Talking in front of large groups of people is extremely important in so many careers and I know that no matter what path I decide to take, this project will have definitely benefited me. Now about our project. The plan was to drop the checks off at the shelter and purchase the supplies last weekend, but something came up. It’s ok though, that’s all that we have left for our project before we create our presentation, and we are going to complete those final tasks this weekend. Again, we are so incredibly thankful for all the support and donations that we have received throughout this process!

Hello, welcome back to my blog! The Roma’s Night was a success. Including checks, we have collected around $250, and we are very happy with the outcome! Emily emailed Carpenters Local and told them about our project. They were very interested and are planning to donate $200 in our name! We called the Oasis shelter and told the organization about how are fundraising was coming along, and they were very pleased with the progress that we’ve been making. They’ve been nothing but grateful and supportive throughout this process. We are planning to use the cash that we’ve collected to buy some supplies that they need, and we’re going to donate the checks directing to them. We’ll be purchasing the supplies soon!
Hello, welcome back to my blog! Our ROMA’S NIGHT is next week! To spread the word, as part of my New Year’s resolution that I talked about last week, we’ve been working hard to spread the word. We’re putting up flyers around the school and we emailed Mr. K about recognizing our project over the announcements next week! We’re really looking forward to this event, and we hope to see many of you all there! Also, we’ve been spreading the word over Facebook through family members, and we have many confirmed people going to support our project! On the other hand, we are planning on collecting the donation cans around Bethalto sometime next week. We’ve visited some of the locations and they seem to be doing well! We will keep you updated on our project’s progress, and we can’t wait to let you know how the ROMA’S NIGHT plays out. See you next week!
Hi, welcome back to my blog!! Since New Years just passed, we decided to make some resolutions for our project. My resolution is to start getting the word out more. Our project is making great progress, but I know that the more that we spread the word, the more successful it will become. On the other hand, we are holding a Roma’s fundraising night, which is in less than two weeks! It will be held on February 7, 2018 at the Bethalto Roma’s. In order for a portion of the proceeds to be donated to our project, you have to mention “The Oasis Project” when ordering. We would greatly appreciate anyone that is able to come! This is most likely going to be one of our biggest, if not our biggest, source of income for this project. Our cans seem to be doing well, and we will collect those within the next few weeks. We will keep you updated, please spread the word about ROMA’S NIGHT! Thank you!
Hey, welcome back to my blog! We have gotten a lot done over this new years, and we are so excited for the rest of this project! My resolution is to spread the word. We are making progress, but our project needs more publicity, so I’m going to work on that. Sadly, we were not able to collect donations at the Bethalto Christmas Village over break, but we did manage to set up the donation cans and flyers all around Bethalto at Imo’s, Party World, Romas, Airport Plaza Bowl, El Mezcal, Ashley’s Cottage, and the Eagles Nest! We are so thankful for these business’s cooperation. We have been around to some of the places, and the cans seem to be doing well! Also, Roma’s agreed to hold a fundraiser night, where if we are mentioned, a percentage of the bill goes to our project! We are so excited, and we are expecting this to be one of, if not our biggest sources of profit. We can’t wait for what’s to come!
Hey, welcome to week five of my blog!! We have accomplished a lot this week, and I feel like we are really off to a good start, as far as planning the first part of our project goes. This week, we decided to contact the Bethalto Christmas Village to see if it would be possible to set up a donation table at the entrance of the lights. When we called, we proposed our ideas, and right now the idea is under review of the committee. They seem interested in our idea, so we are eagerly waiting to hear back! Also, we have the flyers made, and we have started calling some businesses in our community to see if we can place them there, along with the donation cans. The cans are also coming along well, and we are almost done creating them. I will keep this updated, and hopefully we will be collecting money at the Christmas Village on Friday!
Hi, welcome back to my blog! Over this past week Emily, Ryanne, and I have thrown around several ideas that could start us off for our project. We realized that before moving into something big, we need to start small. We are going to put donation cans around our community! The money will go towards later activities that we will be holding. We are planning on putting them in places such as restaurants, small businesses, around our school, and more. This may seem small, but it will not only give us funds, it will also give us time to talk more with the shelter, and it will give us the opportunity to really start planning our big events such as fundraisers and drives. We hope to have the can’s by the end of this week, and if we are able, we would love to have some of them placed at their locations!
Hello, we have good news! The Women’s Oasis Shelter called us back, and we were informed that they would love our help! They are in need of several things such as hygiene products, clothing, shoes, toys, games, and much more. Right now, Emily, Ryanne, and I are thinking of ways that we could help. We have come up with several ideas including selling shirts to raise awareness for the shelter along with using the money to purchase supplies, holdings a toy/game/clothing etc. drive, setting up donation bins at local businesses, and more. We are hoping to have started one of these activities before winter break. We should have a good idea, if not a set plan by next week, so we will keep working and hopefully have our first portion of the project started soon!
Hello, welcome back to my blog! Over this past week, Emily, Ryanne, and I have been brainstorming ways that we will be able to work with the women’s shelter. We are currently waiting to hear back to hear from the organization and are expecting a call soon. In the meantime, we are thinking further into the possibilities of this project. We’re open to any suggestions that are given, and we are looking to help in every way that we can. Some of our ideas are promoting awareness through fundraising, giving supplies such as hygiene products, clothing and more, raising money, and collected gifts for holidays. I cannot wait to see how far we can take this project! I’m super excited to explore the different possibilities because I know that Emily, Ryanne, and I will put our full hearts in every step of the way so that we can make a positive impact on our community!
Hello! My name is Emma. This year in Mr. Carlson’s Honors English class, I’m working on the 20Time project with my group members Emily and Ryanne. We decided to do this project together because we’re friends, and we have similar interests. The 20Time project is a year long assignment where students choose a way to positively benefit their community. For our project, we are going to collaborate and work with the Women’s Oasis Shelter. My group members and I have not spoken with the shelter yet, but we plan to call them and propose our ideas. We’re hoping to help them in ways such as volunteer work, fundraising, or spreading awareness, but we are open to their suggestions. We’re interested in helping the organization in any way that we can, so that we can benefit the people living there as much as possible. Our main goals are to not only impact our community in a positive way as a whole, but to also leave a lasting effect on the women and children living in the shelter. I am very excited to become involved with this organization. This project is definitely going to be beneficial to my group, and hopefully the rest of the groups also, because it will help us gain some experience with working in our community, and it will teach us different ways to help others, even if it is in small ways. I can’t wait to continue this project, and I really look forward to the outcome at the end of the year!
