Hello everyone and welcome back to our twenty time blog! With only a few weeks left of our project we have a lot to do. Emma, Ryanne, and I are going to deliver the checks to Oasis on this Sunday. We are also going to transfer all of the cash from our donation cans to a Visa card so that we can purchase the items they are in need of online to try and reduce costs. Since we will have to wait on shipping we will most likely have to split our visit to Oasis into two separate days. We are going to try to take some great pictures this weekend because believe it or not our twenty- time presentation are very soon. On April 19th Emma, Ryanne, and I will be getting in front of our peers and Bethalto's citizens to tell them about our project and what we have been doing.

Hello everyone and welcome back to our blog. It has been a while since we have posted, but there have been quite a few things we accomplished. We had the Roma's fundraiser about a month ago and we would like to thank all of the people would contributed to that night. We would especially like to thank the owner of Romas for being so generous and letting us have a fundraiser at his business. Additionally, we have connected the carpenter’s local and are hoping to have a donation made out to the Oasis Shelter in out honor. In total we have around $220 without the donations from the carpenters. This week we called the Oasis Shelter and made a plan with them to drop off all of the checks that are made out to them. We plan on using the cash donations to purchase a variety of the supplies they are in need of. We hope to finish this project by donating all of the supplies and money to the shelter by next weekend.
Hello everyone and welcome back to our blog! Emma, Ryanne, and I would like to thank everyone who has been supporting us throughout this project. Especially all of the businesses who've assisted us in collecting donations. As for our upcoming fundraiser at Romas, we have been doing everything we can to spread the word. So far we have hung up posters, contacted our weekly news, and emailed our principal about getting it into the announcements. Additionally, I have drafted a letter to the Carpenters' Local 664 to see if they would be interesting in getting involved with our project by donating.
Hey everyone, thanks for returning to our blog! Every time I get to write to this blog I feel really pleased with how our community has reached out to help us. I would like to remind everyone to mark in their calendars that our Romas fundraiser night will be on February 7th. All you need to do is mention “helping Oasis” when you order and a part of the proceeds will go towards our project. Our plan is to collect all of the donations from the cans placed in Bethalto and from our fundraiser to purchase the supplies that the Oasis Shelter is in need of. To spread the word for our fundraiser we plan to make fliers that we can hang up all around our school and possibly in town. We are also planning on contacting our principal to make an announcement in the morning. Furthermore, we sent an email to the organizer of Civic Memorial’s weekly news and hope to have it mentioned in this week’s broadcast. It would be greatly appreciated if everyone could spread the word so that we help Oasis as much as possible!
Hello everyone, thank you so much for returning to our blog and happy 2018! We’ve been doing many thing over break to promote out project. First, I would like to thank the businesses that allowed us to hang up fliers and place donation cans at their locations. You help brings us closer to our goal of helping all of the individuals staying with the Oasis Shelter. Each of these companies are listed on out home page for you to check out. Furthermore, I would like to give a very big thank you to the Roma’s in Bethalto. They are holding a fundraiser night on February 7th and will be donating a section of the profits from that night to our project! There is more information concerning the fundraiser on the homepage. Additionally, my team and I are practicing pitches for our project to explain everything that we are working on and what we hope to do. My group and I are very happy with the great support we have been getting from our town and we are hoping to do a lot of great thing in 2018 for the Oasis Shelter.
Hello everyone, thank you so much for returning back to our twenty-time project blog! Emma, Ryanne, and I have been hard at work trying to think of and possibly organize events to raise donations and awareness for our cause. Throughout last week and this week we came up with some achievable ideas. Along with possibly making donation cans we are working towards having a donation table at our Bethalto Christmas Village. This week we called the Bethalto Christmas Village Office and we pitched them our presentation. The Bethalto Committee will be debating on if we get to have a donation table this week. We are also planning to call the local businesses about placing donation cans at their stores. We hope to accomplish this over the weekend and through next week. We are really counting on the generosity of our community to help get our project running and if anyone wants to donate we will soon have a list of businesses in Bethalto where they can contribute.
Hello everyone, it’s week four of my blog and we have got a lot of work to do. This week we are working to make plans to create some donation tins. Emma, Ryanne, and I are going to all meet up after school to decorate these tins so that we can spread awareness for our cause. Our hope is that we can collect enough money so that we can purchase donations for Oasis. The supplies we are collecting are cleaning supplies, soaps, and toys for kids. We are optimistic that many people will want to donate and we can get lots of goods to give to Oasis. This week we are also going to many of the local Bethalto businesses and ask if we can place one of our donation cans there. Some of these businesses include Roma’s, Dairy Queen, Dollar Tree, and even Civic Memorials Café.
Hello and welcome back to my blog! I’m very excited to announce that we got in contact with the Oasis shelter. We spoke with them over the phone and we got to talking about what they need for their shelter. They need multiple things like coffee, cleaning supplies, and different soaps. Instead of having a direct donation of these goods from the public, we decided that it would be better to first raise money and then purchase the things they need. We are planning to collect the donations by putting out cans at local business to collect spare change. We know that collecting change doesn’t seem like a lot to most people, but every penny counts. Every single donation we receive, no matter how small, will go toward helping the women and children at the Oasis Shelter. We sincerely hope that people will understand our incentive with this project and will want to help out in their community.
Hi everyone, welcome to week two of my blog! I would just like to recap all of the things that we are working toward for our twenty times project. Our group will be focusing on helping the women’s shelter. We would really like to donate some of our time volunteering at the shelter or possibly doing a fundraiser to help get them any supplies they need. We were also interested in perhaps at organizing an event for the holiday season. At the present moment we are still trying to contact the foundation to see if they are interested in partnering with up for this project. Emma, Ryanne, and I are very excited to be starting and participating in this community project. We hope to learn a lot about this organization and what we can do to help those in need.
Hello, my name is Emily and I am a student at Civic Memorial High School. In our Honors English class we get to participate in the "Twenty-Times Project". In this project we get to pick any cause of our choosing to dedicate our time to. My partners are my two best friends Emma and Ryanne. We got together and took a lot of time to think what we are all passionate about and what foundation we wanted to help out. We decided on the women's shelter, Oasis, to learn about and hopefully donate our services to for our project. We had multiple ideas on how we want to assist Oasis. For example, we were thinking we could hold a fundraiser to get the shelter any funds they needed. We also thought that we could possibly volunteer at Oasis for any jobs or events they needed some help with. Additionally, we are open to do anything that the shelter may need. Our goal, at the present moment, is to get in contact with the organization and get some information about what we can do to lend a helping hand. I am personally very excited to start this project because I think that it will be very eye-opening to get to start and maintain our own local project. One of our main goals are to leave a positive and lasting impact on our community. Furthermore, we hope to spread awareness of domestic abuse and make sure that anyone who is struggling is getting the help they need.
